Admissions

Welcome!

Dear Prospective Parent(s),

Thank you for your interest in our school!

The doors to King’s Wood Montessori first opened in 1968 in a rented storefront in the center of Foxborough. The $50 registration fees of its original fourteen families covered the rent, Montessori materials and the salary of its single teacher. In 1969 the school purchased an old barn that had served as a canoe factory as well as offices of “Heckter’s Scientific Company”. The parents did all the painting, patching and renovating, and transformed the barn into an educational setting capable of withstanding all the enthusiasm and abuse sixty preschoolers can muster on any given day!

As a parent-owned and operated school, we are funded entirely by tuition and fundraising activities. Parents are encouraged to assist in maintaining the building and grounds, as well as support fundraising activities. Our curriculum is based on the concept of responsible freedom for the child within a Montessori prepared environment of stimulating, auto-educative, multi-sensory materials. Each child is encouraged to grow at his/her own pace and level of interest. Our children leave here enthused about learning and with the emerging ability to make it a life-long process.

We are delighted to take this opportunity to partner with you in the education of your child!

The application process will proceed as follows:

  1. An application must be completed using the Apply Online‘ tab.
  2. An acknowledgment of your application will be sent, thereby confirming your child’s name on our list of applicants.
  3. An observation of the classroom for parents only will be scheduled.
  4. You may choose to attend one of our Open Houses which are held twice a year. (November and March) Check the calendar for upcoming dates.
  5. An individual new student interview will be scheduled, typically in March.
  6. Letters of acceptance or wait list placement will be sent to the applicant’s family by mid-March.
  7. Once accepted, a non-refundable $500 reservation fee is required to guarantee the place.

If you have any questions or concerns, please call the school at 508-543-6391. We appreciate your interest in King’s Wood Montessori and look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Joan Reale
Director
